Lets get serious now. After all, this website is about hammocks, so in fact it's about your personal welfare. So without further ado: let's talk about rope hammocks.

Synthetic rope has some pro's over cotton though. First of all it lasts longer. Most synthetic ropes simply ignore natural elements like rain, heat or even extreme cold. Synthetic rope is also easier to clean. And even more important: simply wipe of all water after an unexpected summer shower and your hammock is ready for your much needed afternoon nap. When it comes to comfort, there is no 'one size fits all' answer. Some prefer cotton, some artificial fibers. Cotton rope used to be softer. But with the introduction of new kinds of soft fibers, that's no longer true. Whether you choose cotton or one of these new fibers, get ready for your fair share of 'evidence of laziness' in the form of indentation of the skin. The only way to avoid this, is to spread a fabric on your hammock.
Let's go over that last sentence again: "...spread a fabric on your hammock".
If that's what it takes to nap comfy, then why buy a rope hammock in the first place...?
Well, first of all for nostalgic reasons. Like stated before: a rope hammock is The Mother Of All Hammocks. For some people a hammock is a rope hammock or... a fake.
But there are more reasons to go for a rope hammock. They are available in every thinkable variety, every thinkable design, every thinkable size and for every thinkable budget.
For some people their rope hammock has become a much appreciated travel companion. They never leave home without it and bring their hammock wherever they go, taking advantage of an often overlooked benefit of a rope hammock.
